American Samoa Rocks

June 5, 2018

So its been a while since we posted to our blog. Let’s just say that American Samoa has been awesome. A bunch of pictures have been on our Facebook page at SV Beach Flea. Most of the compendiums comments are about how trashed the place is, how the people aren’t that nice, and how the anchorage sucks. That is so wrong. We’ve met great people, seen great views, and have had a great time living here almost 10 months. We survived a night time harbor entry, had a solid hook drop, received job offers, moved to a concrete wall, added temporary AC to the Beach Flea, won sailing events, received so many packages via the USPS that I can’t count, kids completed a semester in an island school, we caught some fish, helped many other sailors, surfed with new friends, survived Cyclone Gita, and fixed a few houses in the aftermath. It’s been a great 10 months. This place should be a must stop on any Pacific crossing. In the few months we’ve been here, we met an associate high court justice, several government directors, the US Congressional Representative, a bunch of business owners, and so many more wonderful people. They all had kids and welcomed us into their big happy family.
